Adagy Robotics

Save the robots!

Quick Look: Adagy Robotics saves mobile robots that fail (and they do, often). They offer a solution to a very real pain point in a growing $4 billion dollar market. Once implemented, the solution will likely be quite sticky.

Company: Adagy Robotics

Total Addressable Market:  They operate in the Autonomous Robots market, a roughly $4 billion dollar market.

Category: Robotics

Funding stage: Seed

Backer(s): Y combinator

What they do:  Adagy Robotics saves robots when they fail. Their technology allows a trained operator to drive the downed robot to safety when they receive a distress signal.

Problem Solved: Mobile robots fail once every 6-20 hours. That’s a ton of down time and headache when you’re trying to manage a fleet of robots who should be doing the work all on their own. Adagy Robotics takes away the pain of identifying and rescuing a downed robot, so companies can focus more of their time on operations.

The Team:

Rosalind Shinkle, CEO. Former staff roboticist at Boston Dynamics, Masters of Science in Engineering, Robotics at Penn.

Kathleen Brandes, CTO. Former senior software engineer at Tesla, autopilot motion team. Bachelor of Science at MIT.

Development Stage: R&D. If you would like to book a demo with the founders you can reach out to them here.

Unique Edge: Both founders have a solid technical background and experience in robotics. The network they develop while being at YCombinator gives them far better odds than the average start up.

Opportunity: Even with the current leaps and bounds in AI, robots continue to fail at their primary tasks at a frequent rate. Removing one of the major pain points of managing a mobile robot sets Adagy Robotics up to quickly penetrate a growing market and establish themselves as the go-to solution for managing robotic failures.

Risks: Scaling with humans as the primary operators in their support center when failure occurs may prove difficult if they grow quickly. They are working on a solution to build out a model that will be able to handle most edge cases by itself.
